TCP/IP

                                                          TCP/IP
                       {Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol}

    The protocol that make up TCP/IP defines--

  • How data is transmitted across a Network?
  • How data should be formatted so other networked system can understand it?

    Two key TCP/IP features support Decentralisation--

  1. End Node Verification :-  The two Endpoint of any data transfer are responsible for making sure it was successful = No centralised control system.

  2. Dynamic Routing :- End node can transfer data over multiple paths and the network chooses the best path for individual data transfer.

    Network Issues before TCP/IP--

  1. Addressing
  2. Routing
  3. Name Resolution
  4. Flow & Error Control
  5. Interoperability           [for communicate to another country]
    Layers of TCP/IP and their Protocols--

    Differences between TCP & UDP--
